Clinical Pastoral

To be ready for ministry in combat situations, Chaplains require training in the skills and competencies needed on the battlefield. Upon mobilization for war, present force structure requires that more than 20 percent of all Chaplains be assigned to various military hospitals, either in or outside of CONUS. Whether serving in a hospital or not, at some point all Chaplains will face the reality of providing religious support to wounded and dying military personnel and the medical staff who care for them. For these and many other reasons, the Army CPE Programs are some of the best training environments for Chaplains who serve on the battlefield. CPE at BAMC provides pastoral training in a peacetime environment that most closely approximates the trauma, crises and stress found in combat.
