Otolaryngology Residency Program
The SAUSHEC (San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium) Residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in San Antonio is a combined residency for the Army and Air Force. Together the services select three applicants to enter the program as PGY-1's each July. Throughout the five year residency, sub-specialty based rotations are emphasized at the different associated facilities including: San Antonio Military Medical Center, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Darnell Army Medical Center, the Audie Murphy VA Hospital, and the Methodist Hospital.
Since the inception of the current Joint Base San Antonio program in 1995, 100% of the graduating residents have passed their board exams. Our current chiefs exceed national averages for case volume by over a standard deviation and easily achieve competency in all fundamentals of otolaryngology. We are additionally quite proud of the well rounded experience our residents receive. We are the only military program to have sub-specialty representation in all division of ENT: Head and Neck Oncologic surgery, Neurotology, Facial Plastics, Pediatrics, Laryngology, Rhinology/Skullbase, Sleep Surgery, and Allergy.
We consider ourselves on par with the best ENT residencies in the country and would love to have you come down and spend some time with us.
