Anesthesiology Residency Program
It is the goal of the SAUSHEC Anesthesiology residency program to turn out the best trained anesthesiology consultants, who can excel in the military environment and civilian practice. Our program, with its unique training environment and opportunities; which includes extensive training in burn and trauma anesthesia, opportunities for research, unique rotations in regional anesthesia and transesophageal echocardiography is second to none.
Facilities and Resources
The SAUSHEC Anesthesiology Residency is composed of San Antonio Medical Center (SAMMC - BAMC) and Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center (WHMC). Both are tertiary care centers as well as Level I trauma centers. BAMC also houses the Institute of Surgical Research and Extremity Trauma (ISR), a state of the art burn care unit.
SAMMC is the newest (opened in March 1996) and most technically advanced hospital in the military.
WHMC is the "flagship" of Air Force medicine as well as the largest training hospital in the Air Force.
