We are dedicated to rehabilitation of wounded warriors with traumatic brain injury.
An environment where we work collaboratively to ensure all Warriors who have experienced traumatic brain injuries are afforded expert state-of-the-art care, compassion, and support throughout the rehabilitation process.
To provide a single port of entry for service members with traumatic brain injury at Brooke Army Medical Center, evaluating all levels of injury in an equitable, compassionate, and multidisciplinary fashion.
To provide an efficient evaluation, effective education, multidisciplinary treatment, and an individualized plan for return of the individual to family and home station.
To maximize the capacity of the individual to perform in his/her chosen field, as a productive member of society in either a military or civilian capacity.
To cultivate and retain lessons and skills learned for use in future combat scenarios.
The TBI Service is recognized as a Category 1 TBI Center by the Office of the Surgeon General of the Army. The TBI Service serves the Great Plains Regional Medical Command by providing continuing medical education and comprehensive care in a multidisciplinary setting.
The TBI Service provides continuing medical education by conducting monthly Grand Rounds. Medical professionals at over 50 Department of Defense and Veteranís Affairs medical settings around the world are instructed through video-teleconference, audio-conference, web-links, and in person.
Individual treatment plans (ITPs) are created for all service members. ITPs are designed to help service members reach their maximum potential and ensure the highest quality of life. The multidisciplinary team includes the following professionals: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Neuropsychologist, Psychologist, Clinical Pharmacologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Case Manager, and Defense and Veteranís Brain Injury Center Care Coordinators.
The TBI Services encompasses Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neuro-psychology, Psychology, Clinical Pharmacology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Recreational Therapy, Case Management, and Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center.
Grand Rounds Information
Brooke Army Medical Center, Great Plains Regional Medical Command, and Veterans' Health Affairs are proud to present monthly Grand Rounds on Traumatic Brain Injury. We are able to feature nationally-known speakers and world-class presentations. These take place on the second Tuesday of each month in the BAMC Auditorium at 1200 central.
