Hospital Room Service Procedures

Room Service: Room service is available to inpatients only. Visiting family members and guests are welcome to eat at any of the hospital retail foodservice facilities in the bed tower lower level, or the consolidated tower ground level. Patients may call 210-916-2EAT (210-916-2328) to order their meals during the following hours:

Patients who are unable to call during designated periods may call between 0930-1100 for a continental breakfast and 1430-1600 for a non-select meal.

Nursing staff will notify The Department of Nutritional Medicine (DNM) if patients are unable to call for meal service for any reason. Nursing staff will identify such patients in Essentris under the comments section of the diet order. DNM will send a non-select meal tray in accordance with the patient’s diet order.

After Hours Meal Orders: For newly admitted inpatients that require a meal after normal DNM operating hours (1830 to 0600), nursing staff may obtain “after-hour” patient meals from the Grab n’ Go on the Bed Tower's lower level across from the chapel. Nursing staff will verify the patient’s current diet order in Essentris, complete an After Hours Meal Order Form and then present the form to the military supervisor in the Marketplace Grab n’ Go at the to procure a meal for the patient.

Proud Parent Meals

Moms-to-be who deliver at BAMC are invited to order a special meal to celebrate the birth of their little one (or ones). In addition, one guest can also pre-purchase a meal to be delivered at the same time as the proud parent meal.

After the birth of your new arrival, please call 210-916-2328 between the hours of 1100-1730 for meal choices and order placement. We look forward to serving you a high quality meal.
