Accolades - Social Work Program Earns Top Score in Inspection
Published April 24, 2013
The Brooke Army Medical Center Social Work Internship Program has received a perfect score on its program inspection.
The inspection, which is conducted every two years, resulted in a commendable rating for BAMC and a score of 100 percent compliance with all standards.
“Excellent program, strong director of training [Catherine Nelson], well-developed rotations and dedicated rotational supervisors,” noted the inspector, who is the Army Medical Department Center and School social work internship program manager.
The inspection was focused on BAMC’s program to develop active duty Army graduate students into social workers. During a two-year internship, the students receive a wealth of practical experience and assistance in testing for clinical licensure.
This stringent inspection, “enables the program to stay in business,” said Lt. Col. Dwayne Elder, BAMC’s chief of social work. The inspection's success, he added, reflects the staff's hard work and dedication in developing future social work leaders.
